November 30, ‘07 is the release date for the latest Uncle Salty’s Cabin offering OH HELL.....Just throw ‘em all on there.
The 4th CD in the USC catalog to date continues on the stylistic diversity
of the 2003 release hooch radio 109.9 fm but with
a bit more “middle ager” sensibilities. Not that OH
HELL..... Just throw ‘em all on there doesn’t have
it’s moments of youthful indiscretions or tinges of rebellious influences,
it’s just a CD that’s a little more accessible, and interesting,
if you’ve got some life experiences under your belt.
As with all Uncle Salty’s Cabin projects, the sole songwriter/guitarist/producer/engineer
is Darin Di Pietro. On OH HELL.... Darin also takes
on most of the vocals, drums, keyboards and bass. Original lead singer Brett
Branham is on three tracks while long time Cabin drummer Jeff Derby plays
on two songs. Half Zaftig drummer Pete Johnston appears on two songs and original
USC keyboardist Dick Henderson plays Rhodes on “Fantasy”.
Recorded between 2005 and 2007, OH HELL.... is more
a melting pot of randomly written songs on one CD instead of a collection
of songs meant to be on the same CD. Hence the “Just throw
‘em all on there” title.
Add in the fact that there’s two completely opposite sounding lead singers-
Brett actually being a singer and Darin just attempting to fill a musical
void, and you get a CD that’s extremely diverse and totally “un-corporate”.
Available online at CDBaby.com in December and various download sites, including
itunes and rhapsody, coming early ‘08.
